According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Lincoln Avenue. Preliminary information indicates that two vehicles entered the intersection from different directions and collided, causing one of the vehicles to spin into another lane and become involved in a secondary collision with a third vehicle.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid; however, Nicholas McWhirter and Dominic McWhirter sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities reported that both were believed to have been properly restrained at the time of the collision.
