NEWBURGH, Maine — A tragic rollover crash on Interstate 95 Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a Brewer woman and prompted a multi-agency emergency response in Penobscot County.

According to the Maine State Police, 58-year-old Darcel Geiser of Brewer died after the vehicle she was driving left the roadway and rolled over multiple times near mile marker 174, just north of the Exit 174 on-ramp in Newburgh.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 13, 2026. Preliminary findings indicate that Geiser was traveling northbound in the passing lane when her vehicle unexpectedly veered off the interstate. Investigators say the vehicle subsequently rolled over several times, sustaining catastrophic damage.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and worked to extricate Geiser from the wreckage. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

Authorities reported that Geiser was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, and the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under active investigation.

Multiple agencies assisted with the response, including the Newburgh Fire Department, LifeFlight of Maine, the Maine Department of Transportation, and Bouchard and Sons Towing. Crews worked to secure the area, assist with the investigation, and clear the scene following the crash.
