Kristen Yeager Obituary, Death – Central Berks Police Officer Honored in Emotional Memorial After Fatal On-Duty Crash

Family members, fellow law enforcement officers, friends, and community residents gathered to honor the life and service of Officer Kristen Yeager, whose death following an on-duty crash has left a lasting impact throughout Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Officer Yeager, 42, was remembered during a memorial service and procession attended by law enforcement agencies, public officials, loved ones, and community supporters. The ceremony celebrated her dedication to public service, commitment to her community, and the legacy she leaves behind as a police officer, wife, and mother.

During the service, mourners paid tribute as her husband and three children carried her ashes into the venue. Fellow officers stood in solemn respect while family members, colleagues, and supporters reflected on her life and service.

Police leaders described Yeager as a devoted public servant whose career was marked by courage, professionalism, and compassion. Central Berks Regional Police Chief Justin Johnson praised her dedication to duty and her commitment to protecting the communities she served.

Officer Yeager had been a member of the Central Berks Regional Police Department for approximately two and a half years. According to reports, she was responding to a call in Earl Township on May 29 when her patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. She sustained critical injuries and later died at a hospital.

Among those attending the memorial was Josh Shapiro, who joined family members, officers, and community residents in honoring Yeager’s service and sacrifice. During remarks, he recognized her dedication to serving others and acknowledged the legacy she leaves through her children, family, and community.

The memorial service was held at Exeter Township High School, Yeager’s alma mater. The gathering drew a large crowd of supporters who came to pay their respects and express gratitude for her service.

Many attendees also reflected on another recent loss suffered by the family. Yeager’s father, Kenny Houck, a longtime member of the Exeter Fire Department, passed away in April, only weeks before her death. Community members noted the profound impact these losses have had on the family and those who knew them.

The ceremony concluded with Officer Yeager’s final radio call and the playing of taps, a traditional tribute honoring fallen law enforcement officers. The emotional farewell underscored the respect and admiration held for her throughout the region.

Support for Yeager’s family continues through community fundraising efforts and local events aimed at assisting her loved ones during this difficult period. Residents, businesses, and organizations across Berks County have rallied together to provide assistance and honor her memory.

Officer Kristen Yeager is remembered as a dedicated police officer, loving wife, devoted mother, and respected member of her community. Her legacy of service, courage, and selflessness continues to inspire fellow officers and the many lives she touched throughout her career.
