The Amarillo, Texas community is mourning the tragic loss of Travis Babcock, who died following a fatal motorcycle crash on Monday near the Hughes Street overpass and Southwest First Avenue.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers responded to reports of a serious collision involving two motorcycles and an SUV. Preliminary findings indicate that all three vehicles were traveling northbound on Hughes Street when the crash occurred.
Investigators reported that Travis Babcock lost control of his motorcycle, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with an SUV. A second motorcyclist also lost control during the incident but was able to avoid a direct impact with the SUV.
Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene; however, Babcock succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the collision and was pronounced deceased.
