Remembered for her compassionate heart, remarkable athletic accomplishments, and lifelong commitment to serving others, Dr. Ferrin leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Born on November 28, 1975, in Utah, Tricia Lee Ferrin grew up in Layton, where she quickly distinguished herself through her determination, athletic ability, and strong sense of purpose. From an early age, she demonstrated exceptional talent in sports, excelling in soccer, basketball, and softball while earning numerous accolades throughout her athletic career.
Among her most notable achievements was receiving the prestigious NJCAA Betty Jo Graber Award, recognizing the nation’s top female junior college athlete. Her contributions to collegiate athletics were later honored through inductions into the athletic halls of fame at both Utah Valley University and Weber State University, reflecting the lasting impact she made both on and off the field.
While athletics played an important role in her life, Tricia’s greatest calling was helping others through medicine. After earning her medical degree from Kansas City University College of Medicine, she returned to Utah to complete her family medicine residency at McKay-Dee Hospital. She went on to dedicate her professional life to caring for patients throughout northern Utah, ultimately concluding her career at Tanner Clinic.
Patients remember Dr. Ferrin as more than a physician. She was a trusted advocate, a compassionate listener, and a source of comfort during difficult moments. Colleagues describe her as a dedicated healthcare professional who consistently placed the needs of her patients first, often going above and beyond to ensure those under her care felt valued, respected, and supported.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tricia embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure. She found joy in the outdoors and was passionate about activities including hiking, running, cycling, water skiing, and snow skiing. Whether exploring mountain trails or enjoying time on the water, she approached each experience with energy and appreciation.
Family was central to her life. She cherished the time she spent with her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews, creating treasured memories through shared adventures, family projects, and everyday moments together. Those closest to her recall her generosity, humor, and unwavering support, qualities that made her a beloved sister, aunt, and friend.
Tricia also dedicated time to coaching and mentoring young people, helping them develop confidence, discipline, and self-belief. Her influence extended far beyond sports, as she encouraged countless individuals to pursue their goals and recognize their potential.

She is survived by her parents, Lee and Kathy Ferrin; her siblings, Tara, David, and Jeff; and her cherished nieces and nephews, all of whom were a source of tremendous joy in her life.
