It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that family and loved ones announce the passing of Cameron, who died on the morning of June 8, 2026, at the age of 64. His sudden and unexpected passing has left his family, friends, and all who knew him in shock and grief.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Cameron immigrated to Canada with his family in 1964, settling in the Durham Region of southern Ontario. He later experienced a formative and adventurous early adulthood, including participation in Katimavik and time spent living in Calgary and Toronto, where he built lifelong friendships and lasting memories.
Following his post-secondary education, Cameron began a long and dedicated career in public health, later earning a Master’s degree in the field. After retirement, he continued his commitment to helping others through work at a homeless shelter and as a personal support worker at a local high school. Those who knew him describe a consistent dedication to supporting individuals in need and advocating for those who required care and encouragement.
Cameron is remembered as a vibrant and compassionate individual with a strong sense of curiosity and humor. He was known for his love of food, film, and literature, and for engaging others in thoughtful conversation. Friends and family recall his ability to make others laugh, challenge perspectives, and inspire personal growth. He also appreciated life’s simple pleasures, including time outdoors, music, and quiet reflection, and approached each day with gratitude and humility.
He is survived by his wife Kim Peters; daughter Sophie (Luke Willis); and stepdaughter Savannah Peters (Myles and Malcolm Allen). He is also survived by his mother Betty; siblings Graeme (Sylvia), Scott, and Marianne (Colin Jones); nieces Klara Jones (Keteer Singh) and Marina (Leighton, Beau and Levi Dyck); and nephew Shan Jones. He is remembered as well by extended family members, including Ola and Matthew Muszalski, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father John in 2022.
