A 45-year-old Schuylkill Haven man died Thursday night following a collision involving an electric pedal cycle and a tractor-trailer on Route 61 in Schuylkill County, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven reported that the crash occurred at approximately 11:11 p.m. on June 11, 2026, on Route 61 northbound just north of Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 2024 International LT62F tractor-trailer, operated by a 38-year-old driver from Vineland, New Jersey, was traveling in the right lane when it struck an electric pedal cycle traveling along the right shoulder near the fog line. Following the impact, the tractor-trailer sustained minor cosmetic damage, while the electric pedal cycle was heavily damaged. Emergency responders transported the cyclist to Lehigh Valley Hospital–East Pottsville, where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities confirmed the victim was a 45-year-old male resident of Schuylkill Haven. His name has not yet been publicly released pending further notification and official procedures.
The crash scene was secured overnight as Pennsylvania State Police conducted a detailed reconstruction, documenting roadway conditions and collecting physical evidence to assist in determining the sequence of events leading to the collision.
