CHICAGO, Ill. — A deadly overnight shooting in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood left two men dead and a woman critically injured, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Chicago Police Department.
The shooting occurred at approximately 12:49 a.m. near the intersection of 65th Street and Hermitage Avenue. According to investigators, three individuals were standing outside a residence when a white SUV approached the area.
Police said an unidentified suspect inside the vehicle opened fire multiple times before fleeing the scene. The sudden barrage of gunfire struck all three victims, turning the quiet residential block into an active crime scene.
Authorities identified the deceased victims as 31-year-old Tywon Monice and 30-year-old Bobb Marlyy. Monice suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, while Marlyy sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Both men were transported to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures. Despite those efforts, each later succumbed to his injuries.
A 26-year-old woman was also struck multiple times during the shooting. Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital in critical condition, where she remains under medical care. Officials have not released an updated report regarding her condition.
The loss of two lives has sent shockwaves through the Englewood community, leaving family members, friends, and neighbors mourning a tragic act of violence. Loved ones of Monice and Marlyy are remembering them as individuals whose lives were cut short in a senseless attack.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are working to determine a motive. Authorities are reviewing evidence from the scene, interviewing witnesses, and seeking surveillance footage that may help identify the suspect and the white SUV involved.
No arrests have been announced, and police have not released a description of the shooter.
