CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two people were killed Saturday afternoon following a collision between a motorcycle and a Ford Raptor along the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR), according to local authorities.

Police identified the victims as Bernel Navares, the motorcycle rider who was declared dead at the scene due to severe injuries, and his passenger, Krystal Claire Mondares, who was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but was later pronounced dead on arrival.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m. on June 13, 2026.

Based on the initial investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Cebu City Police Office, the motorcycle and a Ford Raptor driven by 23-year-old John Tabacon of Barangay Pooc, Talisay City, were traveling in opposite directions along the highway when the incident occurred.

Authorities said the motorcycle was traveling northbound when it allegedly made a sudden U-turn, entering the path of the oncoming pickup truck. The driver of the Ford Raptor reportedly attempted to brake but was unable to avoid the collision due to the short distance between the vehicles.

The impact of the crash was severe, throwing both motorcycle occupants onto the roadway. Police reported that the victims were dragged approximately 25 meters from the point of impact, resulting in fatal injuries to both riders.

The pickup driver is currently in the custody of the Traffic Enforcement Unit as investigators continue to review evidence and witness statements. Authorities are preparing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide while the investigation proceeds.

Officials say they are continuing to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
